Art fairs to explore in London during Frieze Week 2024
London's bustling art week returns next month, with Frieze London and Frieze Masters launching at The Regent's Park from 9 - 13 October 2024. During this time, several other art fairs will also be taking place across the city. PAD London, held in Berkeley Square, will present design, decorative arts, and contemporary art from leading galleries. Additionally, 1-54, the UK's only fair dedicated to contemporary African art, will showcase a diverse range of works from across the African continent. Frieze London
#FLODown: Frieze London 2024 promises an invigorated experience with its bold new design and artist-centric programming. This year the fair will feature a reimagined layout by A Studio Between, which places a greater emphasis on curated sections such as Artist-to-Artist and the newly themed Smoke. This year's edition will showcase more than 160 galleries from 43 countries, including major London spaces and leading international galleries. Noteworthy initiatives include solo presentations selected by prominent artists and a redefined Focus section, dedicated to emerging galleries. The fair aims to highlight new voices and foster dynamic conversations within the art community.

Frieze Masters
#FLODown: Frieze Masters 2024, taking place alongside Frieze London, will introduce a fresh, artist-focused approach with an expanded Studio section and a revised floor plan designed by Annabelle Selldorf. This year’s fair will present a diverse array of 130 galleries from 26 countries, featuring significant players such as Gagosian and Dr. Jörn Günther Rare Books, as well as first-time participants. With Sheena Wagstaff as Creative Advisor, Frieze Masters will explore the intersections between historical and contemporary art, encouraging new dialogues across different eras. The fair will also include Spotlight, highlighting overlooked 20th-century artists, and Studio, which showcases innovative works inspired by historical contexts.

Frieze Sculpture 2024
#FLODown: Frieze Sculpture 2024 will take place in London’s Regent’s Park from 18 September to 27 October, coinciding with Frieze London and Frieze Masters. Curated by Fatoş Üstek, this 12th edition showcases works by 22 international artists, featuring innovative approaches to public sculpture, including sound, light, performance, video, and augmented reality. The exhibition will be complemented by live events, curator-led tours, and a digital guide with exclusive content from Bloomberg Connects. Additionally, Frieze Sculpture is part of London Sculpture Week, running from 21 to 29 September, which celebrates public art across the city through initiatives such as the Fourth Plinth, Sculpture in the City, and The Line.

1-54 Contemporary African Art Fair
#FLODown: The 1-54 Contemporary African Art Fair will return to Somerset House, London, for its 12th edition in October 2024. Featuring over 60 international galleries and the works of more than 160 artists, the fair will span the West, East, South, and Embankment galleries. This year’s fair coincides with Frieze London and will introduce 21 new galleries from diverse locations including Ghana, Uganda, Nigeria, and Egypt. Renowned and emerging artists from Africa and beyond will showcase various mediums. The event will also include curated events and a comprehensive VIP and Public Programme.

Women in Art Fair
#FLODown: The Women in Art Fair returns during London’s Frieze Week from 9 -12 October, building on its successful launch last year. The fair aims to address the underrepresentation of women artists at major art events. This year’s programme includes a series of talks featuring prominent figures such as Saudi collector Basma Al Sulaiman, Hong Kong gallerist Pearl Lam, and various experts discussing their experiences in the art world. Highlights include talks by Caroline Lang on career development, Gemma Rolls-Bentley on queer art, and panel discussions with Al Sulaiman, Lam, and others. The fair will also feature a focus exhibition, "Women’s Cycles," curated by Virginia Damtsa.

PAD London
#FLODown: PAD London will return to Berkeley Square, Mayfair, from 8 - 13 October 2024, featuring ten new galleries alongside established names. Highlights include Tristan Hoare’s solo exhibition of Peter Schlesinger’s ceramics and works on paper, Bryan O’Sullivan Studio’s furniture inspired by mid-20th century design, and Charles Burnand’s innovative craft collections. Peter Layton – London Glassblowing will showcase vibrant glass art, while Movimento Gallery and Galerie Pradier-Jeauneau will present cutting-edge and modern design pieces. First-time participants include Theoreme Editions with sculptural furniture and Yoomoota with surrealistic designs. The fair will also feature mid-century masterpieces and contemporary Brazilian design.

StART Art Fair
#FLODown: StART KX 2024, relocating to the Town Hall in King’s Cross, from 9-13 October, ushers in a new era for the fair after its decade-long tenure at the Saatchi Gallery. The event will showcase a diverse array of artists and artworks, including large-scale installations by pop artist Philip Colbert and artist-filmmaker Charlotte Colbert. Highlights also include the annual Ciclitira Prize, celebrating traditional art forms, and a special exhibition by Piers Secunda using ink made from Amazonian charcoal to support fire-fighting efforts. Unique presentations include Rick Guest’s “Holy Relics,” featuring iconic cultural artefacts, and new works by artists like Matthew Samson and Justin Dingwall. The fair will also debut "StART after Dark," a week-long programme blending art and live music.

The Other Art Fair
