TOTW: why do people still flush wet wipes down the toilet?
It’s 2020 and it’s surprising how many of us are still flushing wet wipes down the toilet! Wet wipes are bonded together using pressure, resins or chemicals making them very difficult to break down. Not only does this pose a risk to your own home’s plumbing system, they have negative impacts downstream in the city’s sewer system as well as watercourses. In July 2019, more than 23,000 wet wipes were found along the shore of the River Thames!
Check out this video created by Thames Water which explains why you should never flush a wet wipe down the loo.
