Canary Wharf and Penguin Books launch new Black writers’ collection for Black History Month
In partnership with Penguin Books, Canary Wharf Group celebrates Black History Month by offering free, accessible literature from a diverse range of Black authors.

This October, Canary Wharf Group and Penguin Books are celebrating Black History Month by launching a new collection of works by Black writers. Visitors can access these works through Canary Wharf’s Short Story Stations, which dispense free stories at the touch of a button. The machines, located in popular areas like Crossrail Place Roof Garden and Jubilee Place, provide printed stories from authors such as Paul Brunson, James Baldwin, and Chigozie Obioma.
Alongside printed stories, audio extracts from select authors are available at the Crossrail Place location, offering visitors an immersive listening experience. This collection highlights Black voices across genres, featuring authors like Nana Kwame Adjei-Brenyah and Diane Abbott. This initiative follows a previous collaboration between Canary Wharf and Penguin Books for South Asian Heritage Month, continuing the focus on diversity and inclusivity in literature.
Paul Brunson, whose book Find Love is part of the collection, praised the collaboration for promoting reading and introducing readers to inspiring Black authors. With a variety of stories to choose from, the Short Story Stations offer literature lovers and casual readers alike a chance to engage with powerful, thought-provoking narratives.
The Canary Wharf and Penguin Books partnership began earlier this year, and visitors have already printed over 260,000 stories.
