V&A announces Fashion in Motion catwalk show with Eden Loweth and Maggi Hambling
The V&A’s Fashion in Motion event celebrates the collaboration between designer Loweth and artist Hambling, with a tribute to Derek Jarman this January.

The V&A’s first Fashion in Motion event of 2025 will feature a collaboration between designer Eden Loweth and renowned artist Maggi Hambling. The event, which will take place on Friday 31 January in the museum’s Raphael Court, will showcase a new collection by Loweth inspired by Hambling’s paintings. The free catwalk shows are held in tribute to the late Derek Jarman, a close friend of Hambling and an influential figure for Loweth. There will be four shows throughout the day, allowing audiences to experience the creative fusion between fashion and art.
Fashion in Motion is a series by the V&A that provides designers, both established and emerging, an opportunity to showcase their work in the museum. This initiative aims to make the catwalk experience more accessible, celebrating a wide range of fashion creativity. Loweth, co-founder of ART SCHOOL, a genderless label, is known for designing collections that centre on queer identity and embrace non-binary bodies. In this show, he draws inspiration from Hambling’s distinctive, gestural paintings, incorporating her bold mark-making into his designs.
Maggi Hambling, a leading figure in the UK art scene, has works held in prestigious collections such as the V&A, Tate, British Museum, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. This collaboration between Hambling and Loweth brings together their shared rebellious creative spirits, merging the energy of Hambling’s visual art with Loweth’s innovative fashion. The event promises to highlight the intersection of art and fashion, creating a dynamic platform for both artistic expression and inclusive design.
