Toklas Bakery introduces late-night openings
Toklas Bakery debuts late-night openings with Negroni’s, tasty treats and a cosy ambience.
If you're searching for a great late-night spot to catch up with friends or enjoy a relaxed date night, we've got just the place for you. Toklas Bakery, known for its trendy atmosphere, has introduced late-night hours, and we had the chance to visit during their first evening last week. From 5.30pm to 8.00pm, Toklas created a welcoming space for night owls, offering a tempting menu and a cozy ambiance that's perfect for after-work gatherings.
The anticipation for this event had been building for weeks, and when the big day finally arrived, Toklas Bakery did not disappoint. It was clear from the moment we stepped through the doors that we were in for a memorable night. This late-night opening was just the beginning of a series of exciting events that Toklas has planned this autumn.
The late-night menu at Toklas Bakery featured a selection of drinks, including £5 Negronis, known for their balanced bitterness and sweetness. For a lighter option, the Limoncello Spritz offered a refreshing taste of summer. They also had a selection of wine, Prosecco, and beer.
However, the true stars of the night were Toklas's signature Strecci slices, starting at just £3.25. These tasty slices were crafted from a highly-hydrated, stretched focaccia dough, and then baked at a scorching 240°C for eight minutes, resulting in an incredibly crispy base. This unique preparation process set them apart. A staple at the bakery, these Strecci slices drew inspiration from Roman pizzas and a more recent iteration found at Sullivan Street Bakery, founded by the brilliant Jim Lahey.
Our personal favourite included the Strecci slices topped with British courgettes and olive tapenade, a combination that will certainly bring us back for more. Another standout was the potato & 'nduja topping at £3.50, where the spicy 'nduja beautifully complemented the earthy potato flavour.
The ambiance at Toklas Bakery during the late-night opening was nothing short of enchanting. The warm glow of softly lit candles created an inviting atmosphere, perfect for winding down after a long day. The intimate setting allowed for easy conversations, making it an ideal spot for catching up with friends or enjoying a quiet evening with a loved one.
If you missed last week's late-night opening, don't fret! Toklas Bakery has exciting plans for the autumn. They will be back in October with more late-night openings and special events that are sure to be a hit with their loyal customers and newcomers alike.
