With the announcement of Yayoi Kussama’s year long art exhibition at the Tate, this year promises to be a big one for art in the capital. With London’s museums and galleries presenting exhibitions from some of the biggest names in art and equally impressive exhibitions from up-coming artists. From Andy Warhol’s Exhibition at the Tate Modern, to Tracey Emin’s upcoming exhibition that focuses on the influence of Edvard Munch throughout her career. We are very excited!

Yayoi Kasuma: Infinity Rooms Exhibition

The Tate Modern has announced a year-long Yayoi Kusama exhibition in celebration of two decades of the Tate Modern. Renowned for her incredibly unique vision and innovative style, the Tate presents a rare opportunity to experience two of Kusama’s famed Infinity Mirrored Rooms. The exhibition will also feature photographs on display for the first time, which will provide some context on the impactful influence of Kusama’s mirrored rooms. What a way for the Tate to celebrate 20 years, we can’t wait!

Some of Kusama’s most notable work include: Narcissus Garden (1966), Repetitive Vision (1996), Pumpkin (1994), The Obliteration Room(2002), Chandelier of Grief (2016).

Andy Warhol Exhibition

Before the Yayoi Kusama exhibition debuts in May, this March, the Tate presents an Andy Warhol exhibition that will explore his work throughout his lifetime. From his famed images of Marylin Monroe (1967) to his Ladies and Gentlemen Series (1975) and Campbell’s soup cans (1962). You’ll also get the change to explore Warhol’s iconic silver cloud, a large floating metallic pillow hovering in space.

 Tracey Emin/Edvard Munch

World-renowned British contemporary artist Tracey Emin comes to the Royal Academy of Arts in November with her exhibition that will focus on the influence Edvard Munch has had her career. Having taken to Munch’s work at a young age, Emin was particularly drawn to his works on expressionism and his exploration of the complexity of the human psyche. The exhibition will display works from both artists.

SLICE OF TIME BY EMMANUELLE MOUREAUX

Emmanuel Moureaux presents her colourful immersive exhibition titled ‘Slice of Time’. This is the first time that Moureaux is displaying her large-scale installation of cut out coloured paper in the UK. The exhibition is colourful, immersive and gives you a chance to wander through layers of numbers in 100 shades of colours and white. These represent the past and future and encourages you to challenge your thoughts on our time here on earth.

STEVE MCQUEEN EXHIBITION AT TATE MODERN

Tate Modern presents the first major exhibition of Turner Prize-winning artist and Oscar-winning filmmaker Steve McQueen. The exhibition features 14 major works spanning across film, photography and sculpture. The exhibition includes his first film that was shot on a Super 8 camera, Exodus 1992/97, and the more recent End Credits (2012–on-going). With a body of work that spans two decades, this exhibition is not one to be missed!
