Mr Doodle transforms Sketch London with whimsical art
British artist Mr Doodle brings his signature style to Sketch with ‘Sketch & Doodle’ on view at the iconic restaurant until 1 September 2024.
British artist Mr Doodle, also known as Sam Cox, is transforming the iconic London restaurant, Sketch, with his vibrant illustrations. From 6 June - 1 September 2024, the artist's doodles will occupy the reception, extend to the twelve retro-futurist egg-shaped pod loos, and walls, weaving together the venue's colour scheme with his recognisable characters and intricate designs. Throughout June, he will also be performing live doodling performances at the venue, giving visitors a unique opportunity to witness his creative process.
This exhibition at Sketch is perfectly timed to coincide with Mr Doodle's first UK museum show, Mr Doodle! Museum Mayhem, at The Holburne Museum in Bath, running from 6 May - 1 September 2024. This show offers a rare glimpse into Mr Doodle's creative journey, showcasing his sketchbooks, canvases, and sculptures. His art doesn't stop at the museum walls – it spills into the streets of Bath, making the entire city a canvas. This is a testament to Mr Doodle's infectious creativity and his desire to make art accessible and enjoyable for everyone.
Sketch & Doodle marks the third instalment in a collaborative series between Pearl Lam Galleries and Sketch, which has previously featured exhibitions by Chinese artist Danful Yang and Nigerian artist Alimi Adewale. Mourad Mazouz, founder of Sketch, and Pearl Lam, founder of Pearl Lam Galleries, are both thrilled to bring Mr Doodle's joyous creations to Sketch. They believe his playful yet profound art will resonate with both local and international visitors, offering a much-needed dose of happiness. We couldn't agree more!
Date: until 1 September 2024. Location: Sketch, 9 Conduit St, London W1S 2XG.
