Serpentine and Sadler’s Wells announce UK premiere of Αγρίμι (Fauve) by renowned Greek choreographer Lenio Kaklea
Co-commissioned by Serpentine, this groundbreaking presentation marks Kaklea’s first major showcase in Britain and is set to take place at Sadler’s Wells' Lilian Baylis Studio in October.

Αγρίμι (Fauve) delves into the concept of rewilding bodies through meticulously choreographed movements. Kaklea, joined by two other dancers, embarks on a journey exploring human connections, the interconnectedness of all living beings, and the imperative of embracing wildness. Addressing themes such as ecofeminism, queer identities, and the rejection of domestication, the performance envisions the forest as a realm of constant transformation for identities and bodies alike.

Rejecting traditional notions of 'wildness,' Αγρίμι (Fauve) draws inspiration from literature to choreograph bodies intricately linked to their environments. Within the forest's realm, Kaklea constructs a narrative where mythical creatures reside, human-animal interactions unfold, and a spectrum of emotions, from wonder to trepidation, emerge. Through dance, Kaklea challenges Western perspectives on nature, advocating for the celebration of untamed desires and the resurgence of wildness as an essential force for survival.
Date: 31 October - 1 November 2024. Location: Sadler's Wells, Lilian Baylis Studio. Price: from £17. Book now.
