Iconic structures in Paris
Paris is well known for some of its iconic structures, from the Eiffel Tower to the Arc de Triomphe. We give you a quick guide to some of the iconic places to see in Paris and how much it might set you back to visit…
Eiffel Tower
The Eiffel Tower is one of the most iconic structures in the world; the tower was built in 1889 by Gustave Eiffel and was once the tallest monument in the world. The tower is home to restaurants and bars, where you can enjoy dinner and drinks with incredible views of Paris. Tickets can be purchased to visit the second floor and the summit of the tower.

Palais Royal
Palais Royal is located next to the Louvre and was once home to the royal families until the Palace of Versailles was built. The courtyard of the palace is home to a series of black and white striped cylindrical blocks known as the ‘Colonnes de Buren’ created by French artist Daniel Buren. The black and white columns in the courtyard makes for a great Instagram shot.

The Arc de Triomphe
The Arc de Triomphe stands in the centre of Place Charles de Gaulle and overlooks the Champs-Elysees. It is a symbol of the French nation and honours those who fought in the French revolutions, generals and other French military victories. You can climb 280 steps to the top of the arc for a spectacular view of Paris, including that of the Eiffel Tower.

Palais Garnier
The Palais Garnier is home to the Paris Opera and is one of the most opulent buildings in Paris. Commissioned by Napoleon III, it has inspired novels like ‘The Phantom of the Opera’. There are several impressive shows on throughout the year; you can also enjoy a tour of the interior, exploring the history of the opera house.

Notre Dame Cathedral
The Cathedrale Notre- Dame built in the 14th century, is considered a great example of French Gothic architecture. It is not only a staple of the Paris skyline; it also offers panoramic views of Paris when you climb the 422 steps of the tower with views of the Sacre Coeur and the Eiffel tower in the distance.
On the 5th April 2019, a fire broke out at the Notre Dame Cathedral, resulting in the collapse of the spire and roof. The North and South towers of the Cathedral still remain in tack.

The Cathedrale is currently closed till further notice, however, its beauty can still be admired from outside.
