#FLODown: Saatchi Gallery reopens on Thursday 3 September with London Grads Now. The exhibition will bring together the works of over 150 graduating artists from London’s leading fine arts schools including Royal College of Art, UCL: Slade School of Art, Goldsmiths: University of London, UAL: Chelsea College of Arts, UAL: Wimbledon College of Arts, UAL: Camberwell College of Arts and UAL: Central Saint Martins.
Saatchi Gallery, with the support of Kristin Hjellegjerde Gallery, has established this exhibition following the unprecedented cancellation of graduation shows across London due to COVID-19 restrictions. They invited students and lecturers to organise an exhibition that will enable graduating students to showcase their works safely within internationally renowned gallery spaces.

#FLODown: The Georgian townhouse which was home to two of history’s most significant musical artists: George Frideric Handel & Jimi Hendrix, is open to the public to promote knowledge, awareness and enjoyment of their music. Handel lived in the house at 25 Brook Street for 36 years followed by the iconic guitarist Jimi Hendrix in the late 20th century. To visit you must pre-book tickets online.

Architecture for Dogs

#FLODown: The acclaimed Architecture for Dogs exhibition will be making its European debut at Japan House. The exhibition will feature a collection of 16 architectural designs for different dog breeds including the Beagle, Bichon Frise and Poodle.
Architecture for Dogs offers an insightful exploration of architecture design for dogs and their human companions. It features the works of celebrated architects and designers including Ban Shigeru, Itō Toyō, Sou Fujimoto, Atelier Bow-Wow and Asif Khan. Some of the best exhibits to look out for include a candyfloss cocoon inspired by the distinct fur of the Bichon Frise and fun mirror-led structure for pooches to gaze at themselves created by Konstantin Grcic.
The exhibition was first launched at Design Miami in 2012 and has since received global recognition, from Japan to Brazil.

Andy Warhol Exhibition

#FLODown: Halcyon Gallery is currently showcasing an exhibition dedicated to the works of Andy Warhol. The gallery has specialised in the sale of works by Andy Warhol for over 30 years. The exhibition features a series of works from Warhol’s silkscreened graphic work of icons of twentieth-century culture, his early illustrations of the 1950s, his famous and possibly most recognisable work, Campbell’s Can Soups.
The gallery is open Monday – Friday from 10am – 5pm and is free to enter, so you really have no excuse!

Toyin Ojih Odutola: A Countervailing Theory

#FLODown: The Barbican’s art gallery, The Curve, presents the works of Nigerian-American artist Toyin Ojih Odutola. Odutola explores an imagined ancient myth, with an immersive accompanying soundscape by artist Peter Adjaye. Odutola plays with the notion that drawing can be a form of storytelling, and challenges viewers to piece together fragments of the stories she presents. Working exclusively with materials such as pastels and charcoal, Odutola takes inspiration from ancient history, popular culture and contemporary politics.
The exhibition has now been extended to 24th January 2021.

Gauguin and Impressionists

#FLODown: The Royal Academy of Art is offering a unique opportunity to view the Ordrupgaard Collection’s of Impressionist works, from Monet and Degas, to pre-Impressionist artists like Corot and Courbet, as well as artists associated with the Barbizon School such as Dupré and Daubigny. If Impressionist art is your calling, you are in for a treat with this one. The exhibition also features a series of works by Paul Gauguin, which span his career and focuses on the development of his highly personal use of colour and simplified forms.

London Design Festival

#FLODown: London Design Festival returns to the capital for its 18th Edition. First launched in 2003 by Co-Founders Sir John Sorrell and Ben Evans, the Festival aims to celebrate and promote the brilliance of London’s design community.
The 2020 programme features large-scale site-specific outdoor commissions from Studio Weave and Marlene Huissoud (Huissoud’s installation, Unity, pictured) ; four Design Districts from Brompton, Kings Cross, Mayfair and Shoreditch; two new Design Routes in Walthamstow and Peckham; and exciting Partner installations, projects, product launches and exhibitions throughout the city. This year there will also be an increased digital presence for the Festival, including a programme of interesting keynote speeches and panel discussion.
