FLO Helps: Engineering Day at Holly School
Where: Holly School, Accra Ghana
When: February 2019
FLO London sponsored an Engineering Day with 20 children, all under 15 years of age, at Holly School in Accra, Ghana. The session was ran by our Founder, Maawura, and was designed to encourage the children to look at the huge variety of engineering they encounter every day; from the roads they travel on, to the iconic structures in the country, to the shops that they buy their essentials in.
Deeper still, the session started to prompt the students to understand more about the natural environment and what ways they can be more sustainable, for example recycling water bottles. There was also an opportunity to design and make a model of a bridge using chopsticks.
We are passionate about inspiring younger generations to view engineering as a serious future career prospect, especially if combined with a keen interest in sustainability. Through FLO Helps we are looking to expose students to all the sustainable possibilities within their own environment.
