V&A to showcase first major Cartier exhibition in over 30 years
In 2025, the V&A will open a major exhibition dedicated to Cartier, featuring over 350 iconic pieces, including jewels worn by Queen Elizabeth II and Rihanna, exploring the brand’s legacy and craftsmanship.

In April 2025, the V&A will open its first major exhibition in almost 30 years dedicated to the iconic jewellery and watch house, Cartier. This exhibition will explore the evolution of Cartier’s legacy of art, design, and craftsmanship since the early 20th century, showcasing over 350 objects that highlight the Maison’s global impact. From its founding by Louis-François Cartier to its international expansion by his grandsons, Cartier became known as “the jeweller of kings and the king of jewellers,” captivating clients across royalty, aristocracy, cinema, music, and fashion. A limited number of tickets for the exhibition, running from 12 April to 16 November 2025, are available now.
The exhibition will feature some of Cartier’s most extraordinary pieces, including historic gemstones, precious jewels, iconic watches, and previously unseen designs. Among the highlights are the Williamson Diamond brooch, commissioned by Queen Elizabeth II in 1953, and the Scroll Tiara, worn by both Queen Elizabeth II at her coronation and by Rihanna on the cover of W Magazine. Other notable items include Grace Kelly’s engagement ring, Princess Margaret’s brooch worn at her sister’s coronation, and a collection of panther jewels, emblematic of Cartier’s enduring style. The exhibition will also showcase Cartier’s pioneering timepieces, such as the Crash wristwatch designed by Cartier London in 1967.
Curated by Helen Molesworth and Rachel Garrahan, the exhibition will be divided into three sections, each focusing on Cartier’s creativity, technical ingenuity, and image-making. The show will delve into the history of Cartier London and feature a spectacular display of tiaras, reflecting the House’s lasting influence on culture and creativity.
