‘London Lives’ – a special anniversary exhibition

To commemorate this landmark year, Photo London 2025 will host a special exhibition titled London Lives, curated by Francis Hodgson. This ambitious exhibition will feature works by some of the most influential photographers who have captured the essence of London, including David Bailey, James Barnor, Idris Khan, and Mary McCartney. Hosted in both the Embankment East & West Galleries at Somerset House, this exhibition is a tribute to the city’s ever-evolving identity and rich photographic history. Hodgson describes it as a celebration of London’s unique vibrancy, reflecting its diverse communities, architecture, and cultural energy.

International galleries and emerging talent

Under the leadership of new Director Sophie Parker, Photo London 2025 boasts a strong international lineup of returning and first-time exhibitors. Long-time supporters such as Robert Hershkowitz Ltd, Purdy Hicks Gallery, and Camera Work (Berlin) will be joined by newcomers including Close Gallery (Somerset), Chini Gallery (Taipei), and Hilton Contemporary (Chicago). In addition, the Discovery section, curated by Charlotte Jansen, remains a vital platform for emerging galleries and artists, while the new Positions section, led by Maria Sukkar, will provide an exclusive space for unrepresented photographers championed by collectors and patrons.

Expanded book market and thought-provoking talks

One of the most exciting additions to this year’s fair is the launch of the Photo London Book Market, curated by Ben Goulder, which will run from 15 -17 May. This space will highlight independent publishers from around the world, featuring everything from photo books and zines to experimental print formats. The fair also continues its tradition with an expanded Talks Programme, curated by Thames & Hudson, with discussions on the history of queer photography, contemporary trends, and major artists such as Zofia Kulik.

Celebrating excellence with prestigious awards

As always, Photo London will shine a spotlight on outstanding talent through its prestigious awards. The Photo London x Nikon Emerging Photographer of the Year Award will recognise the most promising new talent, with a special display at the Nikon Gallery. Additionally, the Photo London x Hahnemühle Student Award will continue its mission of supporting young photographers by giving them the opportunity to exhibit their work and develop their careers. As the fair reaches its tenth edition, it reaffirms its role as a leading platform for both established and emerging artists, ensuring that photography remains at the heart of London’s cultural landscape.
