The 2025 edition of New Contemporaries marks a return to the ICA, where it was first hosted from 1964 to 1986, and again in 1989, continuing its presentations into the 2010s. Founded in 1949, New Contemporaries has built a strong reputation for supporting emerging artists through mentoring, talks, and workshops. This exhibition kicks off a year-long celebration of New Contemporaries’ 75th anniversary, featuring ‘A Vision with Artists’, a programme that includes new commissions, residencies, and public events designed to empower artists.

After its run at the ICA, the exhibition will continue to tour across the UK, bringing innovative and thought-provoking work to a wider audience. Reflecting on the selection process, artist-selector Amalia Pica said, “It was a true privilege to have such an overview of what artists in the UK are making today. I believe we ended up with a solid list and cannot wait to see all the works together.”
