Harry Potter And The Philosopher’s Stone by J K Rowling
“One can never have enough socks," said Dumbledore. "Another Christmas has come and gone and I didn't get a single pair. People will insist on giving me books.”
Now this might seem like a weird one to be including, but yes there are actually people who have never read Harry Potter before. For any of you that are completely oblivious and have literally been living in a cave for the past twenty years Harry Potter is a magical series that centres around, yes you guessed it, Harry Potter, who is a wizard. Harry is an orphan and lives with his horrible aunt and uncle, but he escapes to the all-encompassing world of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
Even though this is a typically ‘young adult’ book, as an avid fan of the movies and the whole Harry Potter universe, I thoroughly enjoyed reading this earlier in the summer. There are probably a few people similar to me that haven’t actually read the books and I urge you to pick the first one up and give it a go. It’s such a comforting read – really takes you back to being at school.
#FLODown: The friendship between Harry, Hermione and Ron is truly special to read of and how it develops over time across the subsequent books is even more magical.
