#FLODown: British Airways Executive Club

Frequent flyer programs are the perks of flying certain airlines. Free to register, you can save money on flights or experience the perks of the airport lounges with different loyalty levels.

We give you the #FLODown on British Airways Executive Club…

What’s the deal?

Two things are key to British Airways loyalty program. Avios and tier points.

Avios is the mileage currency. You can collect Avios from flights, hotel stays, car hire, BA Amex credit card and several more. Avios points can be redeemed to book reward flights and significantly reduced rates.

Tier Points are collected every time you fly with British Airways or one of its One-world partner airlines. Tier points can only be collected by flying and cannot be spent on rewards. The purpose of tier points is to determine the benefit tier you sit in. The more tier points you accumulate throughout the year the more likely you are to move into a different tire group, and are the they are also the only way to move to the next benefit tier. Tier points depend on the fare class you book, the distance you fly and the type of ticket booked. At the start of every year your tier points will reset to zero.

Tier points can be earned by flying any of the One World Alliance airlines or their other airline partners such as, Cathay Pacific, Aer Lingus, Iberia, Quantas, Japan Airlines.

#FLO Favourite: As a member you can link up to six other members of you household therefore you can pool you Avios together to share. You can also share Avios with people outside of your household by adding them to your friends and family list. The sharing points facility sets the executive club apart from the rest, and is definitely one of the best features! If you go on maternity, paternity or adoption leave worry not! You can apply to keep your bronze, silver or gold status. You will also receive a 1000 Avios welcome gift for enrolling your child.

Executive club members are usually given preference on upgrades.

#FLODown: The Executive club is great for finding cheap trips to Europe. We have been able to book reward flights with Avios paying as little as £35 plus 5000-9000 Avios. The benefits on offer as you move up the tiers are great and having access to airport lounges before travel makes for a very relaxing start to ones travels!
