Drumsheds, Aurora Orchestra, and Southbank Centre collaborate to transform orchestral performance
Aurora Orchestra and Southbank Centre collaborate to redefine classical music at Drumsheds.
In a groundbreaking collaboration, the Drumsheds in London will host an innovative orchestral performance featuring the renowned Aurora Orchestra, in partnership with the Southbank Centre. On 17 October, this unique event aims to redefine the orchestral experience with immersive performances of Ravel’s Boléro and Stravinsky’s The Firebird. This marks the first classical performance at Drumsheds, which has previously showcased a diverse range of events, including club shows and fashion presentations.
Following the success of immersive performances at Printworks in 2021 and 2023, Aurora Orchestra invites audiences to engage with the music like never before. By creating an ‘exploded’ orchestra experience, attendees will stand among the musicians, allowing them to feel the energy of Stravinsky’s ballet score and Ravel’s beloved work from an intimate perspective. This interactive setting enables guests to walk around the performers, connecting deeply with the music’s themes of dancing monsters and enchanting sorcerers.
This initiative, co-promoted by Broadwick, the Southbank Centre, and Aurora Orchestra, seeks to broaden the appeal of classical music and enhance cultural engagement within the community; it’s not to be missed.
